June loves routine. Well, not all routine...she loves routine that results in her being the center of attention.
Russell is out of town. I am the only person here to give her the love and adoration she deserves. (She and my computer are in a serious battle for my attention right now. If I'm not careful, June will draw first blood and that would be very bad.) When I got home from a farewell party for one of the cashiers tonight(she joined Americorps), June followed me around like a...puppy. Funny how that works.
I lavished her with attention and a piece of her chicken jerky, then went and checked email. She laid down on the floor, seemingly pacified. When I ignored her in favor of catching up on the day, she made a pitiful whining sound. When I continued to ignore her, she whined some more. She continued being pitiful until I gave up on getting anything done.
I went to the kitchen and started the dishwasher, then made my way back towards the hallway...where she was waiting for me. As soon as I turned out the lights, she trotted down the hall and hopped up on the bed. Lights Out = June Gets to Lie On Bed And Get Petted. It's her favorite routine.

You know what would be even worse- if your computer drew first blood...
Stan is like that too! I come home and he follows me from room to room...sometimes meowing pitifully for attention. I feel like Mary who had a "little lamb...and everywhere that Mary went the lamb was sure to go.."
